Ocean Month

Each month we are choosing something to learn more about.  This month we chose to explore the ocean!  This week August 2-9 is shark week on the discovery channel.  You can also go online to Discovery and check out the sharks!  We have found a store close by that sells aquariums to companies and they carry alot of different kind of fish for the children to see.  Being that it is a free experience we will take a little field trip to go and see them.  My children took a SeaWorld trip last year and saw Shamu.  They will put together a scrapbook of their adventure and look up info on the different things that they saw.  Questions were asked from each child that they wanted answered this month about ocean life.  We have wrote them down and will look thoughs up and answer them throughout the month.  I have put together a fun Art Project Day for the end of our month.  We will do an ocean themed art project and snacks to end our Adventure of the Ocean with our group of home school moms and kids.  This makes it so much fun to learn for my children and it keeps them busy!  We would love to hear about anything unusual that you are doing!

Awesome Ruth! (This is Angela B.) M wants to study sharks for his first unit study as well. We visited the Newport Aquarium last week and he caught a new passion bug for sharks! lol I told him we would work on sharks and other ocean creatures as well. Thanks for the tip on Discovery- we'll have to check it out. =D

Your classroom looks great! I especially like seeing the Bible on your desk. That's the best thing to teach our children. The ABC's. :)
Do you ever go to the library? They could find lots of stuff there! My kids love going to the library! Love your blog!!!

Hey Ruth! Seems like you are a pro already at homeschooling. I knew you would do great!
We were in Chicago last weekend and Christian was glued to the TV watching Shark week on Discovery. It was soo cool. He now knows how to escape a shark attack! hahaha
