IT HAS BEGUN!

Well, we have started 1st grade and 4th grade for 2011!  This year I sold my gigantic desk and made a profit of 370 dollars!  I was thrilled.   It was great to have the extra cash this summer!  Something I learned from my daddy, is to always have something on you that you can sell or trade for when you need to.  haha.  Anyway, this year my front living room is back to a beautiful living room.  I am pregnant this year and am always in the kitchen.  So, I found it so nice to have my 1st grader right there with me.  I can double task so easy having her right there at the counter!  My son is older and really enjoys having some quiet time when he is learning.  We moved his desk in his room and that is working wonderfully.  I have to make sure that Natalie has a worksheet time every time I need to be teaching Joshua something.  She is very good at worksheets!  Im so glad that she enjoys that!  Joshua has his typing class in the morning combined with an online spelling and vocabulary program.  He then has his Penmanship class after.  He needs no help at all with this.  This gives me time to get Natalie started in her daily routine.  Once he gets this done I come in to check and work with him one on one.  Once he understands, he goes ahead with the paper as I rework with Natalie.  Then reading before break.  I like to spoil my kids with a milkshake or something they really enjoy having at break.  It is a pick me up for them before we start the language arts, math, and history(these are the THINKING CLASSES).  Before lunch we get to Science, this is usually the last class unless we have to go after lunch to finish.  Natalie loves to sit in and listen to Joshua's Science lesson.  I read all about the subject we are learning, we do science projects, answer questions, and discuss different ideas.  I feel like we are more in tune with what we need to get done this year.  I love art, so art is included Everywhere at my house, whether it's building or drawing or just being creative.  Summertime means my husband is home by 3pm!  So everything has to be done by 2pm, wintertime we can start a little later.  We are having a great start!

Loved reading about your schedule! I didn't know you sold your giant desk. Great profit! I like having my student close by too in case I need to do something in the kitchen. Something is always happening in the farmhouse kitchen!
Love ya
